Silver Geysha
The painting is on a silver-plated board, employing a sophisticated technique rooted in the origins of panel paintings and icons. I start with a wooden canvas on which I apply multiple layers of mortar made from glue and chalk. Upon this prepared board, I add a thin layer of soil-binder where silver flakes adhere. In this instance, the corroded metal oxidizes, resulting in an intriguing color effect. This inspired me to depict silver clouds in the sunset sky and a sea scene with bathers. The beauty of this technique lies in the play of light; depending on the viewing angle, it refracts differently across the surface, altering the colors of the image.
